Tohu Wines

Marlborough, New Zealand

Aotearoa New Zealand's first Māori-owned winery, producing elegant Awatere Valley wines shaped by the land they're committed to protecting for future generations.

Tohu became the world’s first Māori-owned wine company when it launched in 1998.

Māori values are at the heart of everything they do, and their connection to the land runs deep. Tohu is guided by Te Pae Tawhiti – a 500-year plan that shapes every decision with future generations in mind. Their commitment to sustainability is expressed through Whenua Ora, a pledge rooted in kaitiakitanga (guardianship) that focuses on leaving the land, water and natural resources in better health than they found them.

Winemakers Bruce Taylor and Anna McCarty err on the side of restraint to create pure, stylish wines with a sense of place.

The Manaaki range captures the fresh and vivid flavours of the Awatere Valley. It consists of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir.

The Single Vineyard Collection celebrates He Kura – the power of place. These wines are sourced from Whenua Awa in the Upper Awatere where wind, river and mountain shape the land. This range consists of Tairanga Sauvignon Blanc, Maia Chardonnay and One Pinot Noir.
