Marlborough, New Zealand

New Zealand family innovators behind iconic Sauvignon Blanc, premium small batches and world-leading alcohol-free wines using spinning-cone technology.

Founded in 1979 by brothers Theo, Alex and Marcel Giesen, this family winery helped define modern New Zealand wine. From early Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc success to pioneering alcohol-removed styles, Giesen has remained at the forefront of innovation.

Their small-batch Uncharted range captures Marlborough’s finest sites, while Giesen 0% Sauvignon Blanc leads the global no-and-low category and is the fastest growing 0% wine in the USA. Chief winemaker Jeremy Tod champions spinning-cone technology to craft alcohol-free wines with purity and aroma. Organic viticulture is practised at the Clayvin vineyard, arguably Marlborough’s best site, planted with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. This is also the provenance for the ground-breaking Vice, an ultra-premium 0% wine crafted from Clayvin wines.

Strange Nature Gin, created from the recovered Sauvignon distillate, has become an award-winning example of circular creativity, earning a Gold Outstanding at the IWSC 2024 Awards.
